MFR Cash for Kids raises money throughout the year to support children in the MFR Area. All money raised in the MFR Area stays in the MFR Area!

These are just some of the ways we have young people so far this year:
Clothing for a 15 year old girl who looks after her mother and her 3 siblings.  Her mother had previous battled substance misuse and is now struggling to get her life back on track.

We purchased a specially adapted bicycle for a young girl who has Myotonic Dystrophy, learning difficulties and is autistic.  As a result she is unable to walk without a walking aid and has communication problems.  She is currently living with a foster family and making great progress.  The bicycle we bought her will allow her to join in with family cycles and enjoy playing outdoors with her friends.

We funded a residential ski break for a 10 year boy with Down’s Syndrome.  Despite being in a mainstream school he requires constant supervision.  He has already worked very hard to achieve all his goals and going on this ski team is another milestone for this young man.  MFR Cash for Kids were able to make this happen.

We furnished a bedroom for a nine year old boy who lives with his Grandmother. He had been forced to sleep on the sofa in the living room until MFR Cash for Kids stepped in to ensure he has his own room.

We bought a buggy for a 5 year old boy with cerebral palsy.  He is unable to walk and this specialist buggy will allow his parents to take him out.

We provided funding for two sisters to attend out of school activities with their friends.  The girls are young carers for their Mother who is struggling to come to terms with the death of their father.

We bought an adult tricycle for a young man with Down’s Syndrome.  This tricycle allows him to join his family on cycles during the summer and gives him a little bit of independence.

We granted funding to a young man who is now living with his Grandparents following a difficult childhood.  His behaviour is very challenging and he acts impulsively with little appreciation of the consequences of his actions.  Despite this he has shown a keen interest in a particular sport – our funding allows him to become more active in this and attend weekly meetings.

We bought new school shoes for a young boy who was going to school in shoes which were too small and worn away. His home circumstances are very poor and he was being bullied at school.

We supported Riding for the Disabled.
