Beds Could Be Scrapped at the Inverness Hospital in a Bid to Make Major Savings
There could be further bed closures at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness as health chiefs attempt to claw back their £4.4m overspend. They're considering ward closures and staff cuts but claim the quality of patient care won't be affected. The Chairman of NHS Highland Gary Coutts says the focus should be on treating people in their own homes to prevent admittance to hospital. On Tuesday 6th December, a report will go before the health board which suggests scrapping 34 beds could save £1.5m,
Mr. Coutts said there could also be reductions to frontline staff.
Almost 3,000 people are employed at Raigmore.
