Jodie's feeling demoralised by Facebook.
I love a bit of social networking me! Mocking the status updates of close friends, piecing together incredible nights out through pictures you instantly de-tag and hearing from people you went to school with/waved to by accident out the car/may be your second cousin.
Yes, my online love affair was going so well…until it started to make me feel rather rubbish about myself!
You see the thing is when I log onto the world of face I’m constantly being inundated with people gleefully expressing what an amazing time they’re having, how happy they are and that for them life generally is like a trip to Disneyland whilst high on too much sugar.
Please note that I’m usually reading these from the confines of my kitchen, surrounded by last week’s dirty dinner dishes whilst quietly weeping over my keyboard. Am I not having as much fun as I could be? Am I frittering away the best hours of my life reading about the fabulous adventures of other people?
Now, by all means share your joy (I’d rather read about that than say ‘Urgh! So and so better stop talking trash about my brother’s, girlfriend’s, cousin’s best pal!) it’s great to feel happy. Maybe I’m becoming old and bitter?! Who knows!
Feeling slightly demoralised by this a while ago I logged off and solemnly wandered over to visit my best friend for a cup of tea and a reality check. I explained my somewhat deflated manner and asked her: “Do you ever feel like you’re not having enough fun?”
Her reply? “Jodie! We’re always far too busy being fabulous to share it with everyone all the time!”
Feeling instantly better and with the Eagles song ringing in my ears I can tell you ‘Jodie Likes This’!!
