Ginno decides to go for a run in the sun but don't panic Usian Bolt he's not quite smashed the 10sec barrier yet
Working on the radio is a very demanding job - however there is no physical elements to it. I'm sitting on my chair most of the day, so it's easy to put on a couple of pounds. To combat my recent weight gain I thought I'd take advantage of the next sunny day.
Yesterday, I had the choice of two things to do while the sun was shining. Cut the grass or go for a run, I decided on the latter. I chucked on my best running gear (I have a t-shirt that says run on it - think that's to stop me wearing it when I go for a walk) shorts and trainers - then off I popped.
I started off at more a snails pace than that of old Concorde. Destination: The Distributor Road, Inverness. Ahhh, The Distributor Road. Many a day I have witnessed keen runners with water bottles and iPods in armbands tackle this highland beast in the same vain as Rocky tackled the steps at the Philadelphia Museum!
So there I was, putting my best foot forward(left) getting into my stride, encouraged by my tunes. What were the chances of Bryan Adams and "Run to You" coming round on shuffle while I was actually out running. In hindsight, should've put money on that!!
The planned route was not to do the full length of the road just two roundabouts then a cut through Culduthel before home. However, best laid plans and all that, I got a stitch at the first and almost passed out by the second.
I decided to maintain some sort of focus to get me home safe rather than a visit to Raigmore, so I thought I'd take a leaf out of Peter Pan's book and chase my shadow, still haven't caught him yet!
Back at work this morning and I must say I was glad to sit on my backside for a few hours.
All the best, all the time.
