Story Highlight

Ginno opens up on the fact that you can never get enough sport. Or in his case, none at all!

I try my best to lend an ear to the sport bulletins during the Breakfast show and through the day at MFR but I’m no sportsman. That my friends is about to change!!

I'm a sucker for seeing something and wanting it. For example, whenever I watch sport on the telly I always think to myself, 'I'd be alright at that'. I imagine the exhilarating feeling of lifting the World Cup after scoring the winner. Or lobbing both Nadal and Federer to take the ultimate trophy at Wimbledon - and that's without a partner. Or best yet, winning the Heavyweight title after knocking out your opponent with your broken toe!

Of course this will never happen - but that’s where my games console comes in.

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen myself watch Wimbledon, The Open and The Scottish Open while listening to the MFR Sports teams live updates from Castle Stuart, all of which inspired me to power up the PS3 and give it plenty.   However, my dreams are nowhere near the reality. I’m rubbish at tennis and have racked up more lets than an Estate Agent, and there’s only one word to describe my golf game, rough!

So maybe it’s time to put down the controller and take control of my sporting life.  I’m taking up the golf, for real!  Well, I will do when it stops raining for long enough.

Until then I’ll leave the sport to John and Iain but in the meantime, the SPL kicks off this weekend so I’ll nip out and pick up a copy of FIFA to play while I’m listening to the live commentary on MFR Two of Inverness Caley Thistle versus Motherwell this weekend. I’m precious you know :-)

All the best, all the time.
