The best of rock, roots & acoustic music, from now and from way back
My radio career started in July 1978 after a chance meeting with a local hospital radio presenter. I actually failed the audition, but wouldn’t leave, as I was fascinated by everything in the studio and just had to find out how it all worked. My perseverance paid off!
When MFR went on air in February 1982, three of the four daytime presenters were my colleagues from hospital radio. I decided I’d listen first to hear what commercial radio sounded like, so it was a couple of months before I joined them.
Since then I’ve been involved in various programmes, always on a part time basis, as radio is my hobby, and up until now I’ve had no intention of making a job of it. I love discovering new talent and sharing it with others, or digging up a classic I’ve not heard in ages. This makes my current show ideal for me, as it features the best of rock, roots & acoustic music, some of it current and some of it from way back.
Radio has changed a lot over the years, but it’s still a lot of fun. I wonder what show I’ll be presenting in thirty years time!
